Members of the hajj council say their lives are in danger after daring to criticize the Interim Hajj Management Committee set up by the Chief Imam to organise a successful pilgrimage to Mecca this year. They claim to have received threatening phone calls and in some instances physical attacks by unknown assailants.Narrating one of the attacks to Joy news the head of the National Hajj Council Sheikh Mohammed Kamil Mohammed said he had his windscreen smashed in pig farm a suburb of Accra, by some unknown assailants on motor bikes.“When I reached Pig farm, they started crossing me, I had to slow down. Then I heard something hit my car. It was like a bomb and everybody started running away.”Sheikh Kamil says members of IMC are behind the attacks.“I am suspecting the Interim Hajj Management Committee. They, their collaborators and advisors want to kill me, because when they do so no body will talk again”But the IHMC has vehemently dismissed the allegation. The Chairman of the committee Alhaji Lumina Mohammed Muniru in a separate interview with Joy news said he is unaware of such attacks and no member of the committee will discern that low.“There is no way members of the IMC will be interested in doing that. We are level headed public servants whose expertise is being tapped to ensure the organisation of a successful pilgrimage.”He described the accusation by the hajj council as unfair.Meanwhile, the Kotobabi police have confirmed the attack and have begun preliminary investigations to arrests the culprits.Author Nathan Gadugah
