A five-member delegation from the Public Procurement and Concession Commission (PPCC) of Liberia has embarked on a study tour of the Public Procurement Authority of Ghana.
The delegation led by Mr. Charles Collins, Chief Director of the PPCC, would be spending the next five days studying the mode of operations of the Authority.
Mr Collins who interacted with the Nana Juaben-Boaten Siriboe, Chief Director of the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning, said the delegation made Ghana their choice because the country had a remarkable procurement system.
"We are here to learn the challenges, experiences, compare and contrast for the improvement of our system," he said.
He said the Act that established the PPCC was enacted in 2006 to set guidelines and monitor compliance to ensure effective and economic use of public funds.
Nana Siriboe noted that times had changed where contracts were awarded on "to whom I know basis".
Mr Agyeinim Boateng Agyei, Chief Executive Office of the PPA, said pragmatic policies had been put in place to ensure that the country became one of the most formidable countries as far as procurement was concerned.Source: GNA
