The Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) has consoled Ghanaian born French star, Marcel Desailly for the loss of his mother.
A letter signed by Alhaji Issa Hayatou, President of CAF, which was delivered to Desailly, described the death as "much cause for sorrow and for deep regret".
It said the loss is especially sad coming at "this crucial moment when CAF and the rest of Africa now acknowledge more pointedly our heroes and what benefits there are for whole nations through the role that brave ones in football such as you can still play in the continent's development effort".
The letter attributed the great success attained by the football hero to himself and for Africa's name in football to "Dear Mother's invaluable contribution".
The CAF President in the letter referred to Desailly's mother as a good parent "Judging from your good character and the nobility that has become your second nature which we believe had taken particular care to nurture you".
President Hayatou assured the football hero and the rest of the bereaved sympathisers of CAF in their pain and wished for them, the strength and fortitude that will enable them to overcome the irreplaceable loss.
"We pray for God's protection for her soul, as she makes way to be with our father in response to the call from above".
