A special delegation from Congo, led by Mr. Alain Akouala Atipault, Minister of Communication on Sunday, presented a letter, inviting President John Agyekum Kufuor, to the sixth World Forum on Sustainable Development in Brazzaville.
Mr Atipault, who doubles as a Government Spokesperson presented the letter from President Sassou Nguesso to Vice President Alhaji Aliu Mahama, at his residence in Accra.
He said the three-day forum, which takes place from October 27 to October 30, would focus on the harnessing of agriculture for Africa’s growth as well as the infrastructural development of the continent.
The meeting is being organised by the African Union Commission and UNESCO with technical support from UNDP.
Mr Atipault said the internationally acclaimed leadership of Ghana would be needed at the forum to address the needs of Africa and the developing countries.
Alhaji Mahama said President Kufuor and his Congolese counterpart had played leading roles in championing the course of Africa.
He said Ghana looked forward to the forum since it would zoom in on the development needs of Africa.
Alhaji Mahama noted that Africa has immense resources that should be harness to better the lot of its people.
“Ghana stands in solidarity with Congo,” he said.
