A Convention People’s Party (CPP) government would ensure clean environment and better sanitation to minimise diseases and create healthy atmosphere for Ghanaians, Mrs Yvonne Nduom, wife of CPP Flag bearer Dr Paa Kwesi Nduom, said at Obuasi at the week-end.
She noted that as a result of filth, malaria and other filth-related diseases were causing the deaths of women and children.
Mrs Nduom who arrived in Obuasi from Dunkwa-On-Offin in the Central Region, campaign for votes for the party visited Tutuka and Obuasi Central market to address market women and the women caucus of the party.
At the markets, the women enthusiastically greeted Mrs Nduom with shouts of “yeresesam” slogan with most of them abandoning their wares to follow her.
She pointed out that most of the markets visited lacked facilities and demanded radical sanitation drive that could be pursued by the CPP.
“A CPP Government would ensure the markets are provided with day care centres, public places of convenience and other facilities to make market women comfortable at their work places,” she emphasised.
Mrs Nduom optimistic of CPP’s victory in Election 2008 said “NDC and NPP have completed their tenure of office and now it is the time of the CPP.”
She pointed out that a vote for CPP was a vote for peace and development and urged the women and Ghanaians to vote for the CPP adding, “CPP is the Party for all Ghanaians.”
Mrs Nduom said the CPP Flag bearer was not calling himself “Adwumawura” for the sake of it but had come to complete the unfinished agenda of Dr Kwame Nkrumah to ensure people had jobs to improve their living standards.
“Everybody is looking for improvement, everybody is looking for job to get money in his pocket and that is what CPP is in for,” Mrs Nduom added.
Mr David Kenyah, Obuasi Constituency CPP Parliamentary Aspirant promised “a market day” for Obuasi, when elected to offer an ideal opportunity for market women to maximize sales and profit.
