Cholera is as a result of the lack of personal hygiene. And in the 21st century, the lack of personal hygiene is lack of common sense.
When this lack is personal, it is indiscipline, when it is departamental, it is poor enforcement such as is hapening at the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) and when it is national it is a disaster waiting to happen.
Children are seen here scavenging at the peak of cholera epidemic that has affected 3,000 people and resulted in at least 40 casaulties.
The picture was taken at the Pantang landfill site in the Ga East Municipal Assembly of Accra.
The danger is that, these boys who scavenge around the dump site are not aware of how cholera is killing people living far away from the refuse.
