The chiefs and people of Pienyina, a farming community near Dromankese in the Nkoranza North District of Brong-Ahafo Region have appealed to the government to addressed the deplorable nature of the feeder road in the area.Nana Kwaku Obeng, Odikro of the area told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Nkoranza that the state of the road had affected their socio-economic activities. He said quantities of yam, maize and rice had been locked up in the area and that traders who managed to reach farmers in the community buy the products at cheap prices and sold them at exorbitant prices in marketing centres.“Farmers who refuse to accept the low price from traders have to hire transport at higher cost and to convey their produce through another route to Ejura in Ashanti region”, Nana Kwaku Obeng added. He said, even though the government has started constructing the Bredi number one on the Nkoranza-Ejura road and to link Pienyina, it had now been abandoned by the contractor after constructing some culverts on the road. The Odikro complained that because the culverts had not been reshaped and gravelled, drivers had refused to ply on the road and called on the district assembly to ensure that the contractor working on the road would complete the construction on time.Source: GNA
