A 32-year-old teacher of Woode Methodist JHS in Takoradi is in the grips of the Sekondi Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit (DOVVSU) of the Ghana Police Service, for impregnating a JHS 2 pupil of the same school.
Confirming the incident to Radio Maxx, Western regional Public Relations officer of the police service, ASP Olivia Adiku said John Essilfie, a Basic Design Technology and Fante teacher at the school was arrested by DOVVSU Sekondi on August 23 following complaints by father of the girl, Francis Johnson that his daughter had been impregnated.
Police medical form was subsequently issued to the complainant to send the victim to hospital for medical examination where it was confirmed the teenager was 7weeks pregnant.
John Essilfie is now in police custody and will be put before court after investigations are completed.
