Arsenal transfer target Kostas Manolas has completed his move from Olympiakos to Roma. He will replace Mehdi Benatia in the Italian capital, with the Moroccan international having joined Bayern Munich.
The Gunners, who are still short a centre back following the departure of former club captain Thomas Vermaelen for Barcelona, believed Olympiakos defender Kostas Manolas could be the ideal candidate for Arsene Wenger, with the powerful 23-year-old Greek international available for an affordable fee.
Italian giants Juventus withdrew their interest in the player earlier this summer, after turning their attention to Benfica star Luisao, seemingly leaving the path clear for the North London club, only for them to be eclipsed by Roma.
Manolas, who made his name playing for AEK Athens ahead of his move to the domestic champions, played every minute of Greece’s World Cup campaign this summer, helping them reach the tournament’s Last 16, and was ranked among the 50 best players at the competition.
