Mobile Network Operator Tigo Ghana Ltd., has presented 10 fully-connected tablets valued at GH20,000 to the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) towards the annual Journalists Awards scheduled to take place at the Banquet Hall, State House in Accra today.
Making the presentation, the Head of Corporate Communications and Corporate Responsibility at Tigo Ghana, Gifty Bingley, said the presentation formed part of Tigo’s efforts to digitally empower Ghanaians especially Journalists to access information on-the-go.
She said Tigo was the first network operator in Ghana to support the digital transformation.
She hoped for closer collaboration between Tigo and the umbrella body of Journalists in Ghana.
The General Secretary of the Ghana Journalists Association, David Agbenu, who received the tablets, was grateful for Tigo’s support.
He said “the GJA Awards is the biggest event for Journalists in Ghana, it is a time where we acknowledge and reward Journalists for their selflessness and contributions towards national development, enhancing the prize package for the various categories will boost the morale of the award winners.”
This year’s awards will be graced by the Asantehene, Otumfuor Osei Tutu II who will be the guest speaker whilst the President of the Republic, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama will be the Special Guest of Honour.
