Joy FM’s international correspondent, Jefferson Sackey has been awarded an Honorary Doctorate degree by the Day Spring Christian University of Mississipi, USA.
He was awarded an Honorary Doctorate in Humanity for his contribution to human rights awareness at the well-attended ceremony held at the Graduate School of Nuclear and Allied Sciences of the University of Ghana in Accra Saturday, August 30.
Jefferson Sackey was among 12 awardees who were recognised for their exemplary roles in Ghana’s development in their various fields of endeavor.
Ghana’s Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture, Sherry Ayittey; National Disaster Management Organisation boss, Kofi Portuphy; Secretary General of the Trades Union Congress, Kofi Asamoah; Secretary General of the Ghana Federation of Labour, Abraham Koomson were among the awardees.
Jefferson Sackey, started his journalism career in 2003 and became the youngest to be awarded the Doctorate Degree by the university.
The Day Spring Christian University has in the past awarded Speaker of parliament, Doe Adjaho and Coach of Ghana's national football team, Kwasi Appiah Honorary Doctorate degrees.
