Scores of NDC supporters have gathered at the campaign office of the presidential candidate of the party, Prof. Mills for an early celebration of victory.
The supporters believe the NDC has won the election although certified results from the EC so far do not support the claim.
Joy News’ Sammy Darko reports that there was loud music to which jubilant supporters danced ecstatically.
He said heavily armed police had cordoned off the area to prevent the jubilation from over spilling and creating security problems.
The Chairman of the EC, Dr. Kwadwo Afari-Gyan yesterday issued a statement cautioning the political parties against declaring themselves victors.
That, he said was in violation of the electoral rules and could create problems as supporters who have been made to believe their party has won will not accept the result of the commission’s authentic results are different.
The Communication Director of the NDC, Hanna Tetteh, however, tells Joy News the jubilant supporters were from the Ledzokuku Constituency who wanted to celebrate their Parliamentary victory in the presence of Prof. Mills.
She said the party was not for a presidential victory.
