The NPP is in talks with the flag-bearer of the CPP for a possible partnership as the party gears up for a run-off on December 28.
“Paa Kwesi Nduom is already our brother, of course we will be talking…not to let out all the secret but you know ‘me and my shoddy are one,’” Oboshie Sai-Cofie, Minister of Tourism, said.
She told Joy FM’s Super Morning Show host, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, that she would, however, not be too surprised if Dr. Nduom decides to back the NDC.
A presidential run-off became necessary following the failure of the flag-bearers of the NPP and NDC, Nana Addo and Prof. Mills to obtain the required 50+1 votes.
The Electoral Commission Chairman, Dr. Kwadwo Afari-Gyan, announcing the results, said a run-off is scheduled for Sunday, December 28.
Explaining the readiness of the NPP for the run-off on Joy FM, Mrs Sai-Cofie said people had already been deployed to the regions to start work.
She said Nana Akufo-Addo will be touring the Greater Accra Region to thank the people for voting for him in the first round.
He will also be appealing to them to come out and vote massively for him in the second round.
She blamed complacency and dissatisfaction by supporters of the party for the failure of the party to secure a first round win.
She although said she knew things would be more difficult, it was surprising that the NPP didn’t obtain the required 50+1 votes.
Mrs. Sai-Cofie said small town hall meetings will be held this time around to try and encourage the people to come out and vote.
