The Ghana Police Service has warned the public to be wary of a fresh modus operandi of criminals, who pose as staff of ECG and shoe makers.
The police says it has observed a trend where people who are in league with robbers pose as officials of the Electricity Company of Ghana and Ghana Water Company officials enter homes under the guise of checking meters.
With power outages a regular occurence in many parts of the country, the robbers have found a foil to enter homes.
While unsuspecting occupants would be delighted to know that the so-called ECG officials are there to help them resolve any nagging problems with their pre-paid meters, the self-styled officials survey the house to gather information such as exit and entry points into the house.
The information collected during the day would be passed on to robbers for a raid at night.
Others pose as plumbers and shoe makers who are rendering door-to-door services.
Police Public Relations Officer DSP Cephas Arthur is therefore advising the public to be vigilant.
