Drivers and traders at Tafo in the Ashanti Region have threatened to take over streets in the municipality if the Tafo Bus Terminal is sold.
According to them, they will have no other alternative but to go back to the streets if they are forced to vacate the terminal where they earn a living and support their families.
Some traders, residents and drivers have demonstrated Monday morning and presented a petition to the Ashanti Regional Minister, Samuel Sarpong, to stop the alleged sale of the property.
However a document intercepted by Luv FM’s Erastus Asare Donkor indicated that the said land had been sold out to the Atwima Kwanwoma Rural Bank.
The document signed by the Regional Lands Officer, Afia Abrefi Obeng Mireku indicates that the said land had been leased to the bank for a term of 50 years.
This makes the bank lawful owners of the land but the traders say they will not move from the land because it is their source of livelihood.
They have asked the president to come to their aid and stop the land from being sold.
