Former Real Madrid manager Bernd Schuster has denied on German television his interest in coaching the national team of Ghana.

The temperamental German's name was confirmed as a replacement after Dutchman Patrick Kluivert withdrew from the interview process but from his comment to Sports 1.de on Monday evening, it is likely the Ghana Football Association could have a second withdrawal.

According to Schuster, his attention was drawn to the Ghana vacancy by his agent but he did not give consent for an application to be submitted on his behalf leading to questions as to how his name appeared on a standby list created by the GFA.

Although Schuster admitted he had observed Ghana and conceded they were a good team,he did not confirm an interest in filling the vacancy left by the sacking of Kwesi Appiah.

With  four days to go before the official interviews, the GFA will hope they are not left with more eggs on their faces if Schuster also withdraws officially before Saturday's interview. Former Chelsea boss Avram Grant,Juan Ignacio Martinez,Michel Pont and Marco Tardelli are the coaches on the interview list

Considered a maverick since his playing days,Schuster however conceded that he was always open to challenges in the future.
