Nana Ato Arthur, the Central Regional Minister, has said the Regional Coordinating Council, in collaboration with district assemblies in the region, would soon repackage its tourism potentials.
He said historic structures and houses of renowned persons such as Mr John Mensah-Sarbah would be rehabilitated to enable tourists to have more places to visit apart from the castles and the Kakum National Park.
Nana Arthur said this on Thursday when a 31-member delegation from the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Junior Division, paid a courtesy call on him.
The delegation, led by Colonel George Partington, the Assistant commandant of the college, was on a four-day study tour of the region's tourism potentials.
The minister expressed regret that although the region abounded in a lot of tourism potentials, it was not benefiting from them and the time had come for repackaging them to enable more tourists to stay longer when they visit the region.
He said he was also unhappy that the region, which in the past had more than 25 industries, now has only two and that the Saltpond Ceramics would soon be resuscitated.
Nana Arthur commended the delegation for selecting the region for its study on tourism and appealed to it to make its findings available to enable the region to repackage its potentials appropriately.
Colonel Partington explained that every year the college undertakes a study tour of a region and that this year the region was chosen because its tourism potentials.
He said the group would come out with a comprehensive report after the tour to complement what the RCC was doing to enhance tourism.
