An imminent crack looms over relations between the New Patriotic Party MP for Ablekuma South, Theresa Tagoe and the party’s Greater Accra regional Chairman Sammy Crabbe.Crabbe is summoning Madam Tagoe, who is also Deputy Minister for Greater Accra and the NPP regional Women’s Organizer, Vida Dugbartey, before the party’s disciplinary committee for alleged breach of party codes.The two on Friday organised a public rally for women which they said was to educate the public, particularly women on government policies and activities, but the party chairman said the whole exercise constituted an illegality because it was done without the knowledge and consent of the party executives.According to Sammy Crabbe, penalties for such a breach could be ultimate dismissal and told Joy News that he had called off the said rally altogether.“Everything she is doing is very wrong because she can’t just sit out there and do things her own way. That is not how the party has been structured. There is a serious breach here and we can’t allow it to continue. The party reaches to people who later in life we believe will take on positions in government. And we want those people to understand what it means to abide by the rule of law.”He reiterated that the rally had been cancelled and no faithful NPP supporter who believed in the party’s tenets was expected to attend the illegal rally. He said among the party’s core competencies were respect for the rule of law and discipline and “if you appear at that rally then you are undermining the very existence of the New Patriotic Party.”Madam Theresa Tagoe however said she did not even know Sammy Crabbe as the Regional Party Chairman let alone his authority to stop a rally she was supporting a colleague party member to organise for the common good of the party.She said from all indications Sammy Crabbe was ignorant of the party’s constitution, besides no true party member would dare cancel such a programme anywhere.“Which article of the constitution am I breaking? Which article of the constitution am I breaching? I want to know that. Which article? He should quote the article in the constitution which the Women’s Organiser is breaking and which I ‘m supporting the Women’s Organiser to break. Which article? He should name it. He should quote that one.”
