Former Presidential Spokesperson, Koku Anyidoho has denied reports suggesting he has called on delegates of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) to vote out the party’s incumbent leadership.
The NDC is preparing to go for congress on December 20, in the Ashanti Regional capital of Kumasi to elect national officers to lead the party for the next four years.
The congress was originally scheduled to take place on October 25, but it was postponed due to a court case brought against the party by an aggrieved member. The aggrieved member, Njonolah Linus dragged the NDC and its executives to court for allegedly overstaying their mandated tenure of office.
Mr. Anyidoho whom himself is contesting a Deputy General Secretary position of the party told Myjoyonline.com the NDC is on a rescue mission and expressed his readiness to work with incumbent General Secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketia popularly called ‘General Mosquito’.
He therefore said it would be absurd to make such a call while he still has faith in some of the current executives, including the General Secretary who is seeking re-election.
“In no interview, have I made any such call. Indeed; I have said that the NDC is on a "Rescue Mission" and I stand by that statement…I do not know where that false attribution is emanating from.”
“I have continued to express my respect for General Mosquito and my readiness to work with him to build a stronger NDC to ensure we help President Mahama to succeed,” Mr. Anyidoho said.
Other candidates contesting the for the Deputy General Secretary position are former Member of Parliament (MP) for Adentan constituency, Kojo Adu- Asare, and George Lawson, who is currently occupying the position.
