A Juaso circuit court has sentenced Abdul Aziz 42, a small-scale miner to 15 years imprisonment in hard labour on his own plea for stabbing his girl friend with a knife at Konongo-Odumase.
Police Chief Inspector Stephen Opare, prosecuting told the court presided over by Mr S. K. Sarpong Appiah that the complainant, Mercy Donkor was the girl friend of the accused and they both lived at Konongo-Odumase.
He said Aziz who had two children with the complainant had for sometime been accusing her of infidelity but she had persistently denied.
The prosecution said on May 31, last year, around 2100 hours the accused went to the complainant’s house and called her to meet him in the dark behind the house but she refused.
He said armed with a knife, the accused rushed into the house and stabbed her several times until she became unconscious after which he absconded.
The prosecution said the complainant was rushed to Agogo Presbyterian Hospital where she was admitted for several weeks.
He said the accused who went into hiding was, however, arrested later when the police had information that he was living at Nkasiem in Brong Ahafo Region and after investigations charged with the offence.
