Hajia Zainab Joyce Mahama has been elected the new National Women's Organizer of the National Democratic Congress.
The 52 year old teacher polled 314 of the 580 votes cast at the national delegates congress of the party in Wa.
Her two other contenders Hajia Mariam Sinare polled 178 whilst madam Magret Chira-Vera placed last with a distant 78 votes.
Hajia Zainab Joyce Mahama was deputy to Madam Anita de Sooso who did not contest this time.
She has promised to work assiduously for the party to retain power.
