Police at the Nima Divisional Headquarters have mounted a swoop at the Ghana Telecom bus terminal in Accra to clamp down on criminal activities in the area.
Well armed police personnel were said to have chased away phone dealers who have been operating in the area at night.
ACP Angwubutoge Awuni told Joy News the action is in response to numerous complaints of theft in the area.
The area is said to be flooded with phone dealers some of who acquire their phones illegally and sell them at outrageously cheap prices.
The police action is also to decongest the area following the takeover of pavements, road shoulders and bridges by traders.
ACP Awuni said the police will work together with the Accra Metropolitan Assembly to ensure the pavements are free.
