The Ashanti Regional Police in collaboration with the Mampong District Command, have arrested three suspects, who allegedly murdered a 23 year old taxi driver in cold blood at Mpirem near Mampong.
The suspects after murdering the driver on March 29, 2009 took away his Taxi cab.
The body of Bashiru Mohammed, the driver who left Nsuta in his Hyndai Pony Taxi cab, was found at the scene of the murder tied to a tree. His hands and legs were tied with a rope while his mouth cellotaped.
He has since been buried by his family after a post mortem examination at the Ashanti Mampong Government Hospital Mortuary.
Chief Superintendent Edward Oduro Kwarteng speaking told pressmen at the crime scene on Monday that the vigilance of the police led to the arrest of one of the suspects, Daniel Domfeh, 28, at Suame Magazine where he had taken the vehicle for it to be re-sprayed.
Both Domfeh and Kwadwo Adom, the sprayer were arrested and they led the police to arrest the two other suspects, Daniel Dumono at Tikrom near Ejisu in Ashanti and Edward Atta at Dunkwa-On-Offin in the Central Region.
The Divisional Commander said all suspects having admitted the crime confessed that it was their second attempt.
