A circuit court in Cape Coast Tuesday granted bail to Alfred Acquah, an 18-year old final-year student, in the sum of Gh¢6,000 with two sureties for allegedly defiling a 16-year-old girl in his school. Acquah who pleaded guilty has been granted bail to enable him write his final examination and reappear on Tuesday May, 5. Prosecuting, Superintendent Kwadwo Antwi Tabi told the court presided over by Mr Beresford Acquah that Acquah and the girl were students of Mankessim Senior High School and that in January 2009, he met the girl on campus and proposed love to her to which she agreed. Supt. Tabi said Acquah on several occasions took the girl to his house and had sex with her. He said the girl’s grandfather with whom she was staying noticed some changes in her and questioned her but she refused to tell him the truth. Supt Tabi said the grandfather later seized a mobile phone from her and during questioning found out that it was given to her by Acquah. He said on March 26, 2009 at about 2230 hours, Acquah went to the girl’s house to look for her but bolted when her grandfather confronted him. He said the case was reported to the Mankessim Police station where the girl was issued with a medical form to attend hospital for examination. Supt Tabi told the court that on March 31 2009, Acquah was arrested and during interrogation, he admitted befriending the girl and having sex with her several times.Source: GNA
