New chairman of the FA Cup committee J.Y Appiah has promised massive improvement in the organization of the Cup competition this season.
The 5th edition of the MTN FA Cup tournament was launched on Tuesday at the Ghana Football association’s head office here in Accra.
The competition just like previous years will begin with lower division sides taking part in the preliminary stage.
J.Y Appiah who has taken over the chairmanship position from Lepowura MND Jawula says he is ready for the task ahead and wants to improve on what his predecessor did.
“It is a sacrificial job and is my prayer that I get the strength to work,” he told Joy Sports
“I believe in teamwork and I don’t want to commit myself and say I will do this and that if anything the committee will sit down and exchange ideas and see the way forward.
“But we will target to improve on what we have done in previous years.”
The preliminary round of the MTN FA Cup competition is scheduled to kick off from Wednesday 28th January through to Sunday February 1.
This round of the competition will involve some second and third tier sides with the Premier leagues set to join in a Round of 64 draw which will be held on February 9.
