Black Stars skipper Asamoah Gyan would be available for selection when the nation comes up against the Dessert Warriors of Algeria. The skipper was missing in action as the Stars succumbed to the Terranga Lions in their Match Day 1.
Chairman of the Black Stars Management Committee George Afriyie told JOY Sports that the skipper had been thoroughly examined and given the much needed medical care to get him fit for the crucial second fixture.
“We have had the experts in here have a look at Gyan over the last few days and we can confirm that the player would be available for selection in the game against Algeria. You know he is a key member of the squad and we can surely do with his experience against an Algerian side that look unstoppable at the moment.
We really did miss him in our first game and we are delighted from a management perspective to have him for the game on Friday. We are still keeping tabs on the player to ensure that all would be well with him.”
The Black Stars were beaten 2-1 in their first game against the Terranga Lions on Monday and a result on Friday would go a long way in determining if the Stars can secure qualification to the quarter final stage of the competition.
