Ghana striker Kwesi Appiah is hoping to have a part to play when the Black Stars clash with Algeria Friday in the Africa Cup of Nations.
The Crystal Palace-owned forward was not fielded in Ghana’s defeat against Senegal but knows a lot of hard work in training could earn him at least a cameo role.
“It was always a dream of mine (to play for Ghana) but it has been a real whirlwind. Obviously it's a big difference from my club back in England,” the 24-year-old told the press in Equatorial Guinea. “It's the first experience of the national team for me. Everything is new to me but I've really been enjoying it."
He added: “I hope to play a part in all the (remaining) games. I just have to keep working hard in training and hope I'll be selected.”
The four-time African champions need at least a draw against the Desert Foxes to keep their hopes alive in the continent’s football showpiece.
