President of the Ghana Football Association, Kwesi Nyantakyi has told Finder Sports that the 'Black Stars' target of "doing well" at the ongoing African Cup of Nations hasn't changed despite Ghana qualifying to the semifinals of the tournament.
The FA President says he appreciates the fact that the "do well" target is subject to various interpretations, but also says "doing well' includes winning the trophy.
"We haven't revised the target. The target is the same. It is to do well, and that includes winning the trophy. I insist that at the time of coming for the tournament, it was only fair to set a realistic target because of the late appointment of the coach. If we don't win the trophy, we will review the factors responsible and take action, but we are not ruling out the possibility of winning the ultimate," Nyantakyi told Finder Sports.
Ghana has booked a place in the semi-finals of the 2015 AFCON after beating Guinea 3-0 in the quarter-finals last Sunday.
The Black Stars now play Equatorial Guinea on Thursday, February 5 in Malabo, and a win for the Stars will mean a date in the final with either DR Congo or Ivory Coast.
The Black Stars are chasing a fifth Nations Cup crown and a first trophy in the last 33 years.
Ghana’s last Nations Cup triumph came in 1982 in Libya.
