Congo coach Claude Le Roy has thrown in the towel, citing how he was badly treated after his team lost 2-0 at home to Nigeria in a qualifying match for the AFCON.
In November, Nigeria avenged a 3-2 defeat they suffered with the win in Pointe-Noire, but Congo still advanced to Equatorial Guinea 2015 after they won 1-0 in Sudan and Nigeria failed to beat group winners South Africa at home.
“I wanted you to be the first to hear about my decision,” Le Roy told the Red Devils in their hotel following their return to Brazzaville as quoted.
“I never accepted the way I get treated after our defeat to Nigeria in Pointe Noire (during the AFCON qualifying campaign, NDLR).
“I am informing you that I will no longer work with you. On behalf of my staff I am congratulating you for all the work done.”
Frenchman Le Roy is one of Africa’s most travelled foreign coaches having also worked in Cameroon, Senegal and DR Congo.
