President Akufo-Addo is urging Ghanaians to not only strengthen their prayers against the deadly COVID-19 but also pay attention to the caution of health experts.
According to him, a high-powered emergency response team has been created to handle the crisis.
Speaking at the Independence Day parade, on March 6, President Akufo-Addo said that strict checks and rigorous screening procedures are being taken at the country’s entry points.
“Reject all fraudulent claims for cures that will only threaten public health and safety. Please listen to, and take seriously, the public education messages being put out by the public health authorities,” he added.
President Akufo-Addo urged Ghanaians to trust in the health experts' ability to safeguard the country. He also called for measures to be taken by every single citizen to protect themselves from the virus.
“Government, on its part, is determined to do whatever is necessary, including providing the requisite resources, to ensure the safety of the population.”
The President before and after the parade demonstrated to the people the need to protect oneself by bowing to dignitaries present at the event instead of exchanging handshakes.
