The information Minister Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has revealed as part of government’s effort to contain the spread of coronavirus, technologies have been deployed to track people who have in contact with infected people.
Speaking on JOYNEWS hours before the 14 days lockdown on Sunday, he said the technology is to help speed up the contact tracing exercise and easily access identified people.
“When any of these persons [identified people] have gone outside the jurisdiction, through the mobile phone we are able to track them and request them to avail themselves to help us,” he said.
The Minister further urged citizens to readily open up to authorities when they start showing symptoms of the virus.
He noted that hiding information could affect the strategies of winning the war against the Covid-19 pandemic.
“What we must be mindful is the kind of stigmatization it is not like it is something that when you get you are going to die.
“So you must not hide information but let it be known to the authorities so that they can help these persons who may have contracted it,” he entreated.
According to the Ghana Health Service, Ghana has so far confirmed 152 cases with five deaths and two recoveries.
