​A family in Assin Fosu, located in Ghana’s Central Region, is locked in a terrifying race against time to save 30-year-old Bismark Amoh, who remains in the hands of brutal captors after being abducted on Sunday, September 6, 2026.

The abductors, who have subjected Bismark to physical torture, initially demanded a GH¢45,000 ransom under a strict 24-hour ultimatum.

To coerce the family, the captors sent graphic WhatsApp audio and video recordings directly from Bismark’s phone, a tactic apparently chosen to conceal their digital footprint.

​The disturbing media shows Bismark stripped naked, bound around his hands, legs, and neck with heavy ropes, and repeatedly beaten while being forced to wallow in water poured over the floor.

In the audio clips, a terrified Bismark can be heard weeping and desperately pleading with his family to raise the funds to save his life.

​Determined to secure his safe return, Bismark’s family rallied relatives, friends, and community members, successfully raising GH¢19,500, which was promptly transferred to the abductors.

​Rather than releasing him, the perpetrators reneged on the deal and increased their total demand to GH¢49,500, requiring an immediate additional payment of GH¢30,500.

The captors issued a fresh eight-hour deadline, threatening to execute Bismark, burn his corpse, and destroy his mobile devices if the money is not delivered.

​The investigation took an unexpected turn following the discovery of a distinct recording embedded within the communications.

In it, an unidentified woman’s voice accuses Bismark of defrauding the individuals involved in his detention, linking the alleged financial dispute directly to his capture and maltreatment.

​Law enforcement officials have not yet confirmed the identity of the woman, the validity of the fraud allegations, or whether the claim is a central motive or a pretext used by the abductors.

​The family has formally reported the case to the Cybercrime Unit of the Central North Regional Police Command.

Regional authorities confirmed that an intensive search operation is underway in close collaboration with the National CID and the Police Headquarters Cybercrime Unit.

​Detectives are leveraging digital forensics to trace the origin of the WhatsApp transmissions and track down the perpetrators.

Police authorities are urging anyone with credible information regarding Bismark Amoh’s location or the identity of his captors to contact the nearest police station immediately.
