The Ghana Association of Assembly Members (GAAM) is demanding a retraction and apology from the Deputy Gender Minister, Freda Prempeh for describing them as untrustworthy.
A statement issued by the Association Saturday said, the utterances of the Deputy Minister is an attempt to undermine the efforts of assembly members in the country and their roles in the development of the country.
They, therefore, demanded an outright apology and withdrawal of statement from the Gender Minister.
“We consider it outrageous, extremely strange and out of place for some government officials to deliberately scheme to discredit and downcast us, especially in times such as the novel Covid-19 pandemic.
"We believe such a statement is derogatory, clearly actuated by malice, hatred and vindictiveness, as it has caused disaffection and a lack of confidence from our constituents," they said.
The Deputy Minnister is reported to have said in an interview with Kumasi-based Angel FM stated that “We can’t trust Assembly Members in food distribution.”
This was subsequently published on various online portals.
