A Suicide preventive group, Weinglo Family International (WFI) has donated over 1000 face masks and hand sanitisers to head porters popularly known as ‘Kayaye’ in the Greater Accra Region.
Speaking to Joy News during the exercise, Founder of the Group, Gloria Boatemaa Andoh said the programme is to adequately equip the young women as the country combats the Covid-19 pandemic.

She also observed that, due to inadequate education on how to use the face masks and other sanitary products, the ‘Kayaye’ tend to practice certain actions which tend to pose as a threat to their health.

“We decided to go to the markets and particularly to the ‘Kayaye’ because they are the first point of contact when you go to the market to shop for the home.
“They are vulnerable, and need to be educated on how to use the face masks especially during this Covid-19 times,” she said.

Miss Andoh further noted that to win the fight against the pandemic, government requires the assistance of the citizens, thus, beneficiaries to adhere to all the safety protocols meted out by the Ghana Health Service.

She also commended the sponsors, volunteers and stakeholders for working earnestly to actualise the initiative.
Weinglo Family International is a suicide prevention organization, since its inception, their main objective is to prevent suicidal tendencies in individuals by embarking on sensitisation and training programmes.
