Five of the six Covid-19 related deaths in the Northern Region are females, the Regional Ghana Health Service has disclosed.
The ages of the females range from three months to 80 years. Currently the region has 77 cumulative cases with 61 discharges.
There are nine active cases and six are on admission out of which five are health workers.
The Northern Regional Director of Health Service, Dr John Eleeza who made the revelation said 86 percent of the cases occurred through community spread.
This for him, means the region is not performing well in the adhering to the safety protocols.
He added that commercial motorbike riders continue to pick three passengers at a go without facemasks and called on residents to step up their efforts in curtailing the spread of the virus.
Dr. Eleeza also disclosed that are more samples waiting to be tested, “some of which we know are likely to be positive and so by close of day the figure would more than 77, so in case you hear a different figure from somewhere don’t be surprised.”
Just before the briefing ended, the cases indeed roe to 95
Dr Eleeza urged the media to help in the awareness creation to help curtail the spread.
