Acting Asante Kotoko CEO Joseph Yaw Adu has expressed disappointment at the state of the club’s secretariat and wants to change things before new CEO is appointed.
Mr Yaw Adu, who is part of the recently installed board of directors by club owner Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has been asked to act as chief executive as efforts are being made to appoint a substantive one.
The former Sports Director of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology started work on Tuesday, the club confirmed on their official Twitter page.
However, he was not pleased with what he saw on his first day. According to him, the secretariat does not befit a club like Kotoko, which is owned by one of the influential men in the country.
“To be frank with you, Kotoko, as you see outside, is a big club and belongs to Otumfuo so everybody knows that it’s a big club indeed, but coming to the office today I have to confess am a little bit disappointed,” he told the club’s media outfit, Kotoko Express.
“The secretariat is not ready to accommodate a Chief Executive Officer as of now, the office is as hot that I have to sit at the conference room, the staff told me most of the machines are at fault and are not serviceable, So I have told them to put in a request to the board to acquire new machines to run the office”.
The new Kotoko board led by Dr Kwame Kyei has been tasked to make the club self-sustaining, and to bring it back to its glorious days.
Since their appointment last month, they sacked Chief Executive, George Amoako and have initated steps to appoint a new one.
There were reports that the club had settled on former Ghana Football Association (GFA) presidential aspirant, Nana Yaw Amponsah but his appointment was rejected by Manhyia.
