Hundreds of New Patriotic Party (NPP) members in the Akuapim North constituency are challenging the Parliamentary candidature of Nana Ama Dokua Asiamah.
This follows what they claim to be unfair disqualification of legal practitioner Philip Addison and Dr Twumasi Agyei from contesting as the Deputy Information Minister went unopposed.
At a press conference Tuesday at Mampong Akuapim, some concerned youths in the constituency vowed to ditch the party in the general elections if something is not done about the Deputy Minister's candidature.
Christian Atta Asare, the spokesperson for the aggrieved party members said as stakeholders, "they are only concerned with maintaining peace in the constituency by urging the party to bring calm in the fight over the recent unopposed candidacy issue in Akuapen North among its delegates."
"The NPP as a political party is required by law to conduct its affairs with openness and transparency in conformity with the democratic principles without bias and favour in the selection of its candidates.

"But we have been informed that constitutionally, the delegates for the extraordinary conference to elect the parliamentary candidates was not at any point constituted. Yes, indeed chief don't do politics but since we are want human development we appreciate uniting the people of Akuapim and restore the indigenes respect."
Mr Atta Asare said they are hopeful the party will investigate the matters raised by the delegates so as to prevent the skirt and blouse vote in the December polls as they need the seat to further support President Akufo-Addo.
