The Wiawso District Court in the Western North Region has remanded three suspects and an immigration officer into police custody for two weeks.
The suspects, Abubakar Ebenezer, 31, Bashiru Adaza, 20, Kwasi Isaac, 24, and Samuel Akuley who is stationed in the Ashanti Region were remanded into the Sefwi Wiawso Police custody.
During the proceedings, the prosecutor, Corporal Vincent told the court that police at Sefwi Asempaneye station in Juaboso district had a tip-off that three motorbike riders had robbed a mining firm at Sefwi Boinzan in the Juaboso district.
According to him, a team was then dispatched to the scene where some arrests were made.
He said, when the suspects were searched, the police found one locally manufactured pistol, a single barrel gun, eight live cartridges, one military uniform, one immigration officer's uniform, a pair of boots, two head masks, a cutlass, crash helmet, a gold detector, and eight mobile phones.
According to the prosecutor, after the three were arrested, they mentioned Samuel Akuley as the owner of the items retrieved.
He was subsequently arrested to aid with investigation.
The three were charged with stealing, unlawful possession of a gun and security uniforms while the alleged immigration officer was also charged with possession of security uniform.
They are expected to reappear before the Court on September 3, 20202.
