The Northern Regional Security Committee (REGSEC) has cautioned citizens who will be participating in the Bugum fire festival to be careful not engage in acts that could mar the beauty of the celebration.

He said the fire festival is a noble celebration which abhors violence and other forms of disturbance and must be observed as such.
REGSEC said the security would be alerted to handle any form of mishaps in the course of the celebration.
A statement signed by Chairman of REGSEC Salifu Saeed called on all and sundry, especially persons who would participate in the celebration to exercise maximum caution and restraint, taking into consideration the Covid-19 pandemic.
He urged all to adhere strictly to the precautionary measures directed by government and health authorities for their own safety.
Mr Saeed commended the overlord of Dagban Ndan Yaa Naa Abubakari II, the Mion Lana and the Yoo Naa for the support given REGSEC in the wake of the demise of the late Kpating Lana.
This, he said has put off all suspensions and tensions that could simmer in the area following the death, adding that it has helped contributed to the existing peace in the area.
