President Nana Akufo Addo says his administration is committed to achieving its ‘Water for All’ agenda to make water accessible to every citizen in the country.
Cutting the sod for the extension of the 5 District Water project in Adaklu and its neighbouring districts on Tuesday, the President said the water project when completed will increase water accessibility in the region by 6 per cent.
This, he added, will help eliminate the time used in searching for water, minimise the infection of water-borne diseases and maximise the social and health benefits of clean safe and reliable drinking water.
“Government will not relent its efforts to increase access to water for all, a 2016 manifesto commitment which remains a key priority.
“So as government is committed to giving out its social responsibility by providing social services like this water project to the people of Ghana, we expect beneficiary communities to contribute their quota to ensure the availability of these services by protecting these infrastructures so that they can last long,” he said.
President Akufo-Addo further charged the Community Water and Sanitation Agency to ensure that the various water projects are completed timely and to the expected standards.
“Also ensure that the project construction meets the required standards and specification.
For the President, these social infrastructural projects undertaken by his administration will help attract investors to rural communities and improve the livelihoods of its residents.
“Government will continue to create an enabling environment through the provision of social infrastructure to attract investment to our rural communities.
“Investors will take advantage of government’s flagship programmes such as 1D1F to establish small and medium factories and exploit the natural resources of the areas and create employment for the youth,” he said.
