One person has sustained injuries and is currently receiving treatment at the Gushegu Hospital after a group of people were ambushed by unknown gunmen in the Gushegu District of the Northern Region.
According to the Gushegu Divisional Police Commander, the victims came from Tamale with musketry to perform at the funeral of a chief at Kpatinga.
DSP Thomas Tulasi stated that on their way back to Tamale, the group was attacked by the armed robbers at the outskirts of Kpatinga.
He said one person was subsequently injured.
DSP Tulasi added that although the police have commenced an investigation into the case, they are being cautious because of the existing chieftaincy dispute in Kpatinga.
He explained that there are already both police and military presence in the area.
