The Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) is asking government to provide each teacher with a laptop and modem.
According to GNAT, these are essential for effective teaching and learning especially during these times of Covid-19 when virtual learning is the order of the day.

“We have suffered for ourselves and we are still doing a lot. It is time for us to be supported by civil society organisations, NGOs and government to possibly have a policy, one teacher, one laptop, one modem,” the Association's president said.
Mrs Philippa Larsen, speaking at GNAT's 2020 Stakeholders Forum, called on government to come to the aid of teachers to ensure innovative means of teaching and learning continue.

The forum was under the theme “Teacher Leadership in Developing Crisis Education Response” and took place on Wednesday, September 23, 2020, at the GNAT Hall in Accra.

The event precedes the World Teachers Day that will take place on October 5, also under the same theme.
Addressing the gathering, the GNAT boss called for support across all facets to help raise the standard of the profession.

“I pray that you continue to do more for Ghana to develop so that we will not travel to other countries to do other things that ordinarily you wouldn’t do,” she said.

The Speakers are at the GNAT Forum include, Prof. Jophus Anamuah-Mensah, Former Vice-Chancellor, UEW, Prof. Smile Dzisi, Former Rector, Koforidua Technical University, Dr. Michael Boakye-Yiadom, Research Fellow at the Institute for Educational Planning and Administration (IEPA).
