Twelve health centres in the North East Region have started receiving medical supplies through drone delivery services after they were cut off by the recent floods that hit the area.
Heavy rainfall coupled with the spillage of the Bagre dam caused massive destructions of roads and bridges in the area, isolating these communities from the rest of the world.
The communities include: Gbintiri, Sakogu, Yagaba, Kubori, Soo, Nangrumah, Zorkor, Nasia among others.
Health Director for the Mamprugu Moagduri District, Bukari Adam said this year’s flooding was massive as compared to previous floods.

Speaking to JoyNews, he said that those who were cut off could not access medical care.
"Our fear was that they may result to unapproved service from untrained health practitioners."
According to Mr. Bukari, the timely intervention by Zipline has helped in the delivery of essential drugs to their health centres as compared to last year when they did not have any supply in the peak of the raining season.

The Fulfillment Operations Lead of Zipline Vobsi Walewale, Mr Sineka Samuel said Zipline currently provides drone medical delivery services to 256 health facilities in communities that have been completely cut off or hard to reach health centres in the Northern regions.

An average of 106 to 152 are delivered a day, he said.
Mr Samuel indicated that as at Thursday, about 2,032 packages had been delivered.
He added that averagely, close to 35 facilities call in a day with an average of 95 making a request in a week.
