Stanbic Bank has donated ¢10,000 towards the Yaa Naa Education Fund established to support needy but brilliant students in the Dagbon Kingdom of Northern Region.
The gesture is in response to an earlier appeal by the King of Dagbon for help towards the Fund.
Speaking at a short ceremony at Yaa Naa Abukari II's Palace in Yendi, the Branch Manager of the bank, Abdullai Mubarak, explained that the donation comes as a reward to the Yaa Naa's efforts at educating the people of Dagbon.
According to him, the Yaa Naa's human resource development drive is in tandem with the bank's tenets as an indegenious bank that aims to support development in Africa.
Alhaji Abdullai said this is the first step in the bank's effort to support the Fund.
Yaa Naa Abukari II thanked the Bank for the kind gesture and added that the donation will go a long way to support the course.
"The key to the development of Dagbon is education and that is why we have set up the fund to support and establish a future for the young generation"
In addition to the Education Fund, the Yaa Naa says he has allocated land for the construction of schools in the area.
Stanbic Bank also donated ¢40,000 worth of building materials toward the reconstruction of the Namo Naa Palace.
