The burial service of the NDC's Deputy Bono East Regional Youth Organiser, Nsiah Kojo was briefly disrupted when a scuffle broke out between some supporters of the party and members of the NPP at the funeral grounds.
The service, which was being held at the Kintampo Presby Park, took an unexpected turn after an announcement was made that the NPP would like to have their pallbearers transport the body.
The NPP explained that, although Mr. Nsiah was an NDC, he had relatives in the NPP and the gesture will go a long way to confirm the good relationship between the two parties.
But the news was met with fierce resistance from the NDC.
Sources say the Seventh Day Adventist Church (SDA) Scout Group then tried to intervene to take over the transport of the body so peace prevails, but that was also rejected by the NDC.
Calm was finally restored due to the presence of police officers and a consensus by the leadership of the SDA Church to allow the NDC to handle transportation of the corpse.
Present to pay respect and commiserate with the family of the late Mr. Nsiah were party executives including National Chairman, Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo, and General Secretary, Asiedu Nketia.
Nsiah Kojo died on Sunday, October 4, 2020, after a vehicle he was traveling in was involved in a head-on collision on the Kintampo-Techiman Highway.
This was during a return trip from the funeral of the mother of the party’s Kintampo-South Deputy Youth Organiser.
The pick-up truck in which the deceased was said to be an occupant of collided with an articulator truck loaded with fertilizer.
The 38-year-old left behind a wife, Doris Fakaa and five children.
