Government has dared the Minority in Parliament to go to court to challenge the legality or otherwise in the award of Covid-19 contracts to some selected companies.
The Minority Leader, Haruna Iddrisu at a press conference on Thursday accused government of conflict of interest in the awarding of contracts and taking undue advantage of the Covid-19 situation to amass wealth for its cronies.
He lamented over procurement breaches in the award of contract for Covid-19 testing at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) to Frontiers Health Care Services at a time the company had no laboratory to do testing.
He also added that the award of contract for insurance cover for frontline health workers to Enterprise Life Insurance, which is alleged to belong to Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta.
But in an interview with Adom News, Deputy Health Minister, Dr Bernard Okoe-Boye rubbished the allegations.
According to him, due processes were adhered to in the award of contracts to the said entities regardless of their ownership.
He then dared the Minority in Parliament to go to court to challenge government's handling of the situation since in his view, it is not for the minority to determine the legality or otherwise in the award of contracts.
He also accused the minority of hiding behind the 2020 election to score political points.
Dr Okoe-Boye also disclosed that government is still in talks with Frontiers Health Care Services limited for a possible review of the cost of COVID-19 testing for travellers at the KIA.
