The Accra Region Police command is investigating the NDC National Vice Chairman Alhaji Said Sinare over allegations that he has distributed weapons to some persons to cause mayhem during the December elections.
Tahiru Ahmed, the Ayawaso North Constituency Chairperson of the opposition NDC is reported to have told the police that Alhaji Sinare supplied guns to some youth to cause mayhem in the upcoming December 7 polls.
Following this claim, Alhaji Said has been invited to the Greater Accra Regional Police command to answer questions on the allegation.
Meanwhile, Mr Said has written to the NDC National Chairman, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, to sanction Tahiru Ahmed, the Ayawaso North Constituency Chairperson over the claims.
Alhaji Said, in a letter sighted by JoyNews and addressed to the National Chairman of the NDC, said this move by Mr. Tahiru is an act of disloyalty, and a will to fight against the interest of the party.
"Mr Ahmed has been my permanent employee for the past eight years until last year when his appointment was terminated, as I had enough suspicion that he is a mole for the ruling party.
"According to his accusations filed with the police and the AK 47 guns produced, I gave him those guns to be used in the Northern Region during the national elections on the 7th December, 2020 to intimidate NPP voters.
"This singular action initiated at this time, confirms my suspicion that he was working against the party's interest and intend to bring myself and the party's name into disrepute," Alhaji Said said in the statement.
Alhaji Said Sinare is currently in the company of his lawyers Baba Jamal and Abraham Amaliba.
Supporters of the NDC are massing up at the Accra Regional Police headquarters in solidarity with their National Vice Chairman.
