The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has given government a seven-day ultimatum to retrieve the "billions of cedis his government has illegally paid under the shady Agyapa deal to Databank."
“The NDC hereby demands that President Akufo retrieves for the state the billions of cedis his government has illegally paid under the shady Agyapa deal to Databank, which is owned by his cousin and Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta; African Legal Associates, which is owned by another cousin of his, Gabby Otchere Darko; and their foreign compradors, within the next 7 days,” Sammy Gyamfi, National Communication Officer of the party said.
At the 16th edition of its Weekly Press Briefing, the party threatened that failure to meet the deadline will attract a series of actions.
“Failure to do so, the NDC and other like-minded progressive forces, shall embark on series of protest and legal actions to ensure that every pesewa paid to these companies are refunded back to the state for nation-building,” it said.
In his Corruption Risk Assessment, the Special Prosecutor described the inclusion of a local rider company as a manipulation by the Finance Ministry which lowered the risk of corruption and nepotism.
“The request for proposals process from the Ministry for Finance with a rider for collaboration with eligible Ghanaian firms smells of bid-rigging by the Finance Ministry for the proposals from Imara using Data Bank as a decoy on closer examination, analysis, and assessment of the terms and conditions of the Mandate agreement purportedly signed between the Ministry of Finance on behalf of the Republic of Ghana and Imara/ Databank.”
Following this, the NDC says the deal must be aborted immediately.
