Ruthy’s Best Sauce, a small-batch, natural sauce company developed by London Metropolitan University graduate, Ruth Baidoo, has been featured in BBC Good Food magazine’s Christmas Guide.
The feature explored gift ideas for foodies which also give back to communities or charities; a percentage of the proceeds from Ruthy’s Best Sauce go to Speak Up, a non-profit organisation which runs a programme to help women affected by sexual violence, making the sauces well suited for those who want to benefit others this Christmas.
Journalist Melissa Thompson wrote in the piece, “I’m always astounded when those who work in food – be it in restaurants or produce – choose to donate profits or expertise to charity. Especially now, when the importance of charitable giving has been brought into sharp focus.”
Ruthy’s Best Sauce won the Food for Good category at last year’s Big Idea Challenge, the annual competition for entrepreneurs and enterprise run by London Metropolitan University’s business incubator, Accelerator.
As a child living in Ghana, Ruth would wander the vibrant markets with her grandmother, where she discovered an amazing world of fresh exotic spices and natural ingredients as well as learning unique recipes that have been passed down through generations.
This is where she was inspired to create her sauces, a delicious blend of a few natural ingredients and a hint of hot spices.
She has continued to develop her business over the year, and her sauces are available to buy through her Instagram shop, @RuthysBestSauce.
