The Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC), Jean Mensa has said her outfit is set for the special voting ahead of the 2020 general elections scheduled for December 1.
At a press conference at the Commission's headquarters in Accra on Monday, Jean Mensa mentioned that officers recruited and trained by the commission stand in readiness to deliver a smooth and fairness, peaceful and orderly process during the elections.
“All materials necessary had been distributed in sufficient quantity and these include the covid materials, the Covid-19 protocols will be put in place and observed, the biometric verification has been prepared and deployed.”
The EC Chair called on all eligible voters to turn up as the commission expects a 100 per cent participation.
“As a commission we expect a near 100 per cent turn out and we are confident that the outcomes will be peaceful, credible, orderly, seamless and transparent God being our helper”.
She also mentioned that special voters list has been published on the Electoral Commission's website for verification in addition to the alternative use of a shortcode *711*2020# on all mobile phones.
"We entreat all who applied to verify their details and locations on the commission's website”.
The EC Chair is hopeful that by the end of the special voting exercise which will take place at selected locations in all 275 constituencies, her outfit can brief the public on the outcome during the midweek.
